Adapting to European standards

An imported car from the U.S. often doesn´t comply to European technical guidelines for vehicles. To obtain a European Approval for the car, certain adjustments or customizations have to be made. Most of the time these are no more than relatively small technical changes to the vehicles lighting. Of course you can have this done by a brand dealer in Europe, but these simple adaptions are frequently handled by just replacing the entire lighting units; a costly operation. SCL Rotterdam has considerable experience customizing vehicles to European standards and can offer you very attractive rates for obtaining a European Approval Certificate.

Although SCL Rotterdam has been offering this service for a while now, as of May 1st 2009 we have taken this service into our own management. We have a modern new garage available in one of our warehouses built especially to customize vehicles to European standards. This significantly decreases the required time to perform the services needed and it can commence directly after the car has been cleared at Customs. Your benefit: lower costs and quicker service.

Have you imported a vehicle that has not been shipped by SCL Rotterdam? No problem: we offer adaptation to European standards as a standalone service too.

European Approval Certificate

Before your car can get a technical inspection by the Dutch Department of Motor Vehicles and license plates can be obtained, you will need a Certificate of European Approval. SCL Rotterdam is an experienced and trusted provider for European Approvals. Combined with the technical customization needed for your specific vehicle we can offer you very competitive rates, but we also offer these certificates if your car does not need to be customized by us.
